...is it just me, or this is a disgrace to community?...
I'm aware that it's not a brand new show, and I've heard about it from some magicians, but it's the first time I'm actually watching it.
This is just outrageous!!!
Who's behind it, and why the community is not going after the network and creatorts???
Isn't it our livelihood????
I'm just an assistant, but I feel offended!!!!
Am I the only one who feels that way?

As most of you know, I recently attended Magic Live 2009. The Convention was heralded as "The Class of 2009". So, in keeping with the High School theme the Convention was promoting, I too created my own "Reunion"...so to speak.
Magic Live 2009 was the first Convention I had attended in several years...24 years to be exact. That's right!! The very first Magic Conventions I ever attended were back in 1984 and again in 1985. Both of these Conventions took place aboard a Cruise Ship…

This contest is hosted by our Community leader, Ryan Ogaard. Ryan will be providing a Magic Prize Package for the winner of this contest.
This contest is not open to those who attended Magic Live 2009. Please be respectful of this rule. Let others have the chance to participate. Here is how the contest works. Be the first person to correctly identify all 18 photos, (Magic Celebrities) and you win!! The photos are of each performer when they attended High School. Again, correctly match…

During the Magic Live Convention I was fortunate enough to rekindle my friendship with Marvyn Roy. The entire Magic Community knows Marvyn as "Mr. Electric". Marvyn and I first met at a Convention back in 1985. During that year, we both attended Magic Cruise, where the Convention was held aboard the S.S. Rotterdam and we sailed throughout the Caribbean. Surprisingly, Marvyn still remembers our time together then, in 1985. Upon renewing our friendship, I thanked Marvyn for dedicating so many…

I had the opportunity to speak with Jeff McBride while attending Magic Live. Let me say at the outset that McBride is a consummate performer as well as a gentleman. Jeff and I spent some time talking over Magic and I soon started asking some questions, which McBride happily answered. One thing I asked Jeff was how long does it take to prepare his Magic act. Jeff answered that question like this: "Mark, performing Magic is not about the how. We magicians always want to know the how...how a trick…

On our last day of the Magic Live Convention, registrants heard interviews from Bill Schmeek, Jonathan Levit, Nathan Burton, John Bannon and John Guastaferro. We all learned three amazing card effects from John Bannon and an extraordinary piece from Mr. Guastaferro. Again, lecture notes were provided for everyone. Later in the afternoon, our session was hosted by Michael Weber who talked about many of the iPod and iPhone applications available for purchase. Next, we heard from Jeff McBride who…

Marvelous Magic
This is maybe one of the most important lessons I learned from Joshua Jay's book. Putting an effect in context is something that most magicians, especially beginners, miss. The bad thing about this too is that even some seasoned magicians actually fail to do so (refer to this…

Hello Again, I seem to be getting my second wind and I was able to enjoy the following events on Tuesday August 18, 2009. Our morning session was hosted by Mark Kornhauser who had us all in stitches with funny bits of business. We saw interviews with Richard Garriott, Marco Tempest, Eric Mead and Michael Mode. Michael Mode demonstrated his beautiful "Napkin Rose" routine and provided all registrants with a small packet of napkins to practice with. Not only that, he provided a set of photo…

First, the morning session treated registrants to a lecture including Paul Gertner, Daniel Garcia and Simon Aronson. We learned some very cool stuff. The afternoon session included an interview with Luis De Matos, Adam Rubin and John Gaughan. This session was hosted by Johnny (Thomsoni) Thompson where he did a humorous bit with the help of Tom Mullica. Later in the evening, registrants attended the Stage Show which included Marco Tempest, Christopher Hart, Ed Alonzo and others. The show was…

The Welcome Party is over and boy, was it a blast. Attendees were all handed trading cards with pictures of some Magic Celebrities, (their High School photo). Each person was given 18 of the same photo and the object was to trade other registrants for a complete set. It only took me a few minutes to trade for the cards I needed to complete my set. Once you obtained the 18 different cards, you now had to seek out the Celebrities who happily signed their trading card. I was able to get Paul…
