Profile Information

My level of experience as a Magician:
Professional Magician
My years of experience as a Magician:
21+
I specialize in magic for:
Night Clubs / Comedy Clubs, Corporate Events (trade shows / meetings / product launches)
My favorite type of magic tricks are:
Close-up (cards/coins/other), Parlor Magic (magic for audiences larger than close-up and smaller than audiences for stage magic)
About Me:
My real name is Whit Haydn, but everybody calls me Pop.

I am the Vice-President of the Magic Castle in Hollywood, and a six-time winner of the Magic Castle's "Magician of the Year" in Close-Up (2004, 2005), Stage (1979), Parlor (1995, 2002) and W.C. Fields Bar (2006). I live in Los Angeles with my lovely wife Nancy Magill, and have a grown daughter and two beautiful grandchildren.

I have run the School for Scoundrels with my business partner Chef Anton since 1996.

I am currently busy producing the Pop Haydn Post-Modern Medicine Show and Old Time Internet Hour, featuring Old Time Music, magic, variety, and burlesque with a Steam Punk feel.

My new website, Pop's General Merchandise is an online drygoods store run by Magill where we sell my patent medicines such as the Amazing Miracle Oil, music, posters and memorabilia from the show, nuts, candy, coffee, grocery bags, and various other products.

This business, founded with the wonderful Magic Castle graphics artist, Steve Mitchell, is set up like an artists collective. All the profits from the store go to the medicine show and the various artists involved.

My dream in life is:
To get the Post-Modern Medicine Show and Old Time Internet Hour up and running.
My favorite quote:
"Principles are very important, like ballast. When you are taking on water, you always want to have something left that you can still throw overboard." --Pop Haydn

Thanks for the info. I wouldn't know if I didn't ask. I'll come up with something for "Bill to Lemon" before I move to Denmark during the winter holidays '09. I'll be playing the "Transportation Device" video for all of my friends in magic there, I'm sure.

POOF... gone in a wisp.

I'm friend's with "POP" Haydn on "Club Magician's" and wonder when you might expect to have more "TELEPORTATION DEVICE" in stock... and what the price would be with shipping.

Will there ever be more "Billy McComb" tables available again.

Thanks,

Now I'll make like a Magish and Vanish,

whit/pop, i have a question. how importat is it to say in a shell game "i have 2 chances and you one'' ? i am working on my rouitne with the board a la sam. i like to have my opening demo / explaining the game as tight as possible.

what are your thoughts on this?

thanks for your time

i start to understand why the glas is a good ending. the conditions are now more in the favor of the mark. i am practing now with the glass and saturday i will try it. still like the white and red peas. i will use the green peas normaly but if it is a bit dark i will switch to the white ones.

thanks your are a great help.

thanks for your thoughts. i am using it only to close the routine. i have tried the glass effects but for me that also looks like a trick. people (i have tried all) think it is under under glass or not. same as the in the hand shell. so i am looking to figure out a suitable finale. another idea i had is the spectator select the right shell. i show the other two empty. lifting the third shell there is a pea but in a different color. " I asked you where is the green pea? not the red one" i take the pea out of my pocket.
i hope you have the time to comment.

thanks whit

pop, i have a question. i have orderd the red and white peas. they are on its way towards me. but i am playing the shell game and have dreated two scenarios for a finale:

1) i play a game and the are wrong (show shell empty) - i give them a second chance wrong again (show shell empty) - it''s under the third one ( show green pea) / i explain that i win because i use more then one pea - sometines a red one and sometimes a white one (lift shell to show the red and white pea)

2) i will make it easier for them. i take a second pea. they now have a chance of 2 (green & white pea) against one (empty shell) for me. next i play the game and they lose (get the only empty shell) when i lift the shells the 2 peas are under one shell together. the other two shells are empty.

QUESTION; wich one do you like and why?

thanks

sincerly

It is actually not a rubber dam principle. I have had to fight that comment since the 80's. The only similarity is that fact that there is a clear piece of rubber involved. If you try to do this effect using rubber dammmit method, you will fail. The…
