I'm trying to convince a friend, who owns a toy distribution company, to market some magic tricks. He said that development costs were too high for such a small market- a target audience of magicians. I just haven't had too many ideas to convince him!

I totally get you and that will work for some although most require being factory made and cant be done with household tools and items.

"I will have to click around because I can't find where to submit inventions. " No need to do that. They all get submitted to me at magicnook@yahoo.com However, you need to understand that we sell e-Books and that I am suggesting that you sell your creation in e-Book form, with photos and diagrams of how to make the props, and let your customers make the effect themselves. Cite your sources where you found the mirrors, and take lots of photos as you build it and as you demonstrate how it is used. The advantage of producing it as an e-Book is that you don't have to turn your house into a factory to produce these things as products and can, instead, make money from it instantly while moving on to your next project ( I notice that you seem to be filled with ideas).

Thanks although I tried searching that online and no luck. So I tried other searches and the one that worked was plastic mirror. I found a site americanacrylics.com if it is what I think they should work perfectly even if it is a bit pricy do do it being custom cut. Couldn't be to bad though given I only want a sheet the size of a playing card. Also thanks for the site that looks great although I will have to click around because I cant find wheare to submitt inventions.

Your mistake is in going to Ellusionist to market it. A better solution: http://magicnook.com/magicnookfamily.htm

But first, work on the effect and get all the bugs out of it. You can get sheets of silver mylar at most art supply stores.

I am trying to come up with a new vertion of card through window. In which the signed card appears on the otherside without a assistant and the window is clearly seen to be clean. Much like in Ultimate card through window which I beleive was first presented by David Copperfeild or more specifically Cyril Takayama's version where it goes through a boats observation aquarium. Which I don't want to spend money on alot of versions trying to get farmiliar with them. So I only know the duplicate version and the one with a assistant placing it on window along with a few miscelanious twist vertions I learned on youtube.

Not sure how either of those versions work. However hoping mine is different for my version I could use two mirrors in sticker form about the size of a card. Hopfully this doesn't give anyone ideas and thus result in someone beating me to the effect. I plan on having this as a succesfull one that is original enough to market through ellusionist. They have regeceted my improvements on others effects "making them better in working even with a stronger impace with different workings" saying they aren't original enough.

Which I find a lie given that most every modern effect is just that and simply presented and or done differently. However anyway anyone have any comments on the effect and or know where I could buy a sticker mirror? On a website or a store

The workings of the cannonball catch are the basis of the secret to a modernized version of a illusion I have been working on for four years. I know it was first done by John Holtum aka The Cannonball King 1845-1919 with a fifty pound ball. The workings of the trick, I learned in a book once but I forgot which book so I cant find it anymore. That secret is the basis of the workings to my bullet catch. I know what it is but I need to know some math that goes with it.

To find out I need to know what type of cannon it was. Can anyone help me find out what cannon was used and or any documents describing the secret?

There are some great items out on the magic market. I like some of the items Jay Sankey has come out with. One of his books "Beyond Secrets" is a great start for any beginner or a great brush up for pro's. And as for a great dvd on making magic is Jay Sankey's "Create Your Own Magic." Hope this help. Have fun and good luck and amaze all.
