Club Magicians

The Definitive Magic Community for Magicians, by Magicians, about Magicians!

This discussion is for any magician out there that would like to post easy, how-to instructions on how to perform simple to learn magic for kids. Post some pictures and have some fun!

Again, keep the tutorials to those effects that are for kids that we've all learned as beginners - not magic effects that are currently being sold or would otherwise create heartache for revealing its secret.

Here are a few great tricks that a child could learn to perform through this tutorial:
1) Linking paper clips on a dollar bill
2) Disappearing quarter in arm - reappear in your ear (if nobody beats me to it, I'll post this one!)
3) Appearing/Disappearing quarter in matchbox
4) Jumping rubberband
4) and many, many others...

Hello, Fellow Magicians,
Thought I would share the notes from IBM Ring 320's Teach-in last Monday (March 31st). We have been having a Theme and/or Teach-in at every meeting this year. Monday I taught Basic Coin Moves and Magic with Pocket Change. We had a great time and I received some excellent comments from the members. Here is the link to our archive - http://homepage.mac.com/gbbuckley/FileSharing7.html - you will find the pdf "Blue Ridge Coin Effects". Hope this helps anyone starting out, hope some of you who have shied away from coins find something you can use and maybe the motivation to learn some more. If you have any questions send me a reply and I will answer as quick as I can.

Thanks George!

P.S. George, I wanted to upload the pdf here as well to keep it simple to link to from within the site.

Thanks Ryan,
Hope everyone can find at least one good effect to use from the PDF. Ring 320's April Meeting theme is Basic Card Moves and Effects and will be taught by David Clauss who is now a member of Magicians.com. I will try to publish the notes from that meeting as well (as soon as I can). One of the things I try to do when I am out entertaining is have one or two effects that I can teach kids who are interested in magic. Not effects that give away anything we do, but an effect that will teach them a basic premise of magic and get them started (Coin through the Elbow). If, they come back and show me that they have learned anything and are eager to learn more then we start with the magician's oath and some basic moves. I have several kids that come up everytime they see me to show me their latest effect and learn one more new move or effect. A lot of these kids work hard at learning and this is were magic starts to grow in your community and the community starts to appreciate you as an entertainer. So,... be a Johnny Appleseed of magic, plant little seeds and see what you get back. After all thats what we are "here" for.... to share and to grow. I hope to see more effects here that I can use to teach kids "Easy Magic Tricks".

Fellow member, George Buckley, made a great couple posts in the discussion! George, it would be super to have you back in our presence!

Any other members out there have any great tutorials they've created that teaches such effects as those noted above for kids?

Once a kid,
Ryan
