My daughter and other 4th graders from her school are putting on a talent show next Tuesday (5/26). I received a call from another parent with only 3-days to go asking if I can help her son perform some magic. Thus the challenge, 3-days to come up with some fun and easy magic to perform for his classmates!
I'm leaning towards rope magic for him, perhaps a comedy restored rope routine (like taught in Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic). If you're not familiar with it, a piece of rope (3') is cut into 4 equal pieces. The pieces are placed into a paper bag or change bag and restored to a single length of rope with the four strands apparently tied together with three knots on the rope. The comedy comes into play when the kids see this and scream that it's not quite fully restored. Then each end of the rope is pulled and the knots hop off the rope completely restoring it!
Leading into this routine, I was thinking of having the young magician open with a rope joke - "I'm a'frayed' knot"... If you're not familiar with this joke I'll type it out in another post!
I'd love to hear anyone else's comments on one-liners, jokes, or other very easy to learn magic that we can be taught and learned in just 3 days!
