Today, I wanted to open a discussion about Reel Magic Magazine. First, let's look at what this is...Simply put, this is billed as "TV For Magicians". Ted Brainard (Kozmo) came up with the idea to present a Magic Magazine and release it as a DVD rather than to print it, in a standard format, such as Genii or Magic Magazine. It has become a very visual way for Magicians to learn about new effects and products, currently on the Market.
While attending Magic Live 2009, I purchased a 1 year subscription to Reel Magic Magazine...which promises 6 Issues for the entire year. The subscription cost $55 Dollars and Kozmo added the extra incentive of 2 Free Issues for signing up...on the spot. This turned out to be a great deal, as the Current Issue is sold separately for $10 Dollars...Back Issues also sell for $10 Dollars each. So, if you were to get 6 issues separately without a subscription, you would pay $60 Dollars. Trust me on this, pay for the Subscription!!
What's inside and Issue? Typically, there is an interview conducted with a well known Magician. The current issue features Daniel Garcia. Previous issues have featured:
Eugene Burger
Chris Kenner
Mike Caveney
Mac King
Paul Harris
...Just to name a few. Each issue has columns relating to different aspects of Magic. Some columns focus on Reviews, Previews and Magic Effects. Each magic effect is demonstrated first and then taught. There have been some really killer effects which have appeared in Reel Magic Magazine...and this current issue features a Daniel Garcia trick called "William Tell" This is a fairly simple effect, but will take practice to learn properly. It alone, was well worth the cover price of this DVD Magazine. The magazine also covers an in-depth study of "Move Monkeys". This sections heralds individuals who have submitted their knuckle busting moves and then has them teach it...should you be daring enough to take on the challenge.
Reel Magic Magazine is a fantastic way to learn about Magic and what goes through the minds of many of its most famous creators. Should you be interested in a subscription, here is a direct link to the Website:

I highly recommend Reel Magic Magazine. It is well worth the price of a subscription. I am really looking forward to the next issues in the year to come.
Best Magical Regards,
