Club Magicians

The Definitive Magic Community for Magicians, by Magicians, about Magicians!

Here is a link to my new book, Police Magician, which shows how to use magic and puppets for crime and drug prevention presentations.  Also shown on the page is my book on carnival game inspection.

Hello. That book sounds interesting, I'm working to be a pickpocket magician. That's my goal.
And as such I try to find places in my shows to warn people of pickpockets and other criminal elements, so my goal is first to entertain and amaze, but also to educate.

Can you tell me more about this book?
Can you give an example from it or such?
If you go to Preview under the cover page, it will show several pages. This book is about magic with messaged in the crime prevention field as well as using puppets to reinforce the messages or as a solo act.

I do not have anything that is pick pocket releated, but if you go to Whit Haydn's forum, http://www.scoundrelsforum.com/, you will have other magicians who do pick pocket.
Thanks for the tip.
It seems like the right place to look.

I've checked the preview now, I'm interested in all form of crime prevention actually, though pickpocket is my specialty.

I've always had a burning interests for safety/crime prevention, and I have tried to educate those around me as to make them safer.

In the con game section I might find material to a close up show I'm planning on the subject.

How did you start writing this book? Or maybe I should ask how you came up with preforming magic in this way?
I wanted to do something different with magic and came up with routines that linked both my law enforcement and magic profession together. Prior to that, I had used magic routines for Gospel messages but was told by Fr. Cyprian Murray that the law enforcement routines would be good to use as there were few, if any out at that time. Later, I included puppets in the act starting with the McGruff puppet and then having a pig puppet designed.

I am also a police instructor for the State of Georgia and have taught a 24 hour class on using magic and puppets in crime prevention presentatons. I also teach a ten hour course on con games and a 20 hour course on Carnival Game Fraud. I have done this in other states as well.

I am working on a book about con games now and hope to have it published by March of next year, when my great grandson is born. I wish you the best with your endeavor. The Police Magician book has just a few of my routines listed. I have a few more that I kept out of the book to use for my shows.

Here is a newpaper article on my two books and some personal history with it.

Enjoy. Glenn
It's a great article, much more interesting then many I read.
Good promotion for the books I can imagine :)

Also I think it is a great idea you have; combining magic and law enforcement.
Having a message with your magic and making it personal by combining the things you know. It's great!

Also on a side note the puppets looks great. Are you an ventriloquist as well?
Thank you for your kind comments. Yes, I do vent as well, but I am no Jeff Dunham. The pig puppet is used for children's crime prevention and stranger danger shows. I later had Hesteni made for my adult magic shows and then had Inspector Jay Cee made for my adult crime prevention shows.
There are few Jeff Dunhams ;)
Anyhow I'll add your book to my to-buy list.
I'll also keep an look out for the next one.

Good luck!

Hello, Glenn how are you my name is Danny Hester and I had a brother named Glenn Hester which Glenn was his middle name as well was my dad's which was Tommy Glenn Hester Sr. anyway I just thought it was neat seeing this and maybe in the future I can purchase your book cause I'm wanting to do some educational shows for schools.

Danny, so good to see you here.  Brunswick is one hour south of Savannah on I-95.  It is also next to Jekyll Island, if that helps.

Send me an email to policemagician@yahoo.com, so I can converse with you about safety shows.
