MAGIC FROM THE GRAVE
This is my review on the new DVD Magic from the Grave. Produced, Edited, and Directed by Todd Diamond. With special guest Bizarro and The Amazing Jonathan.

Video Production
: 8/10 Video quality was good and so was the production of the video.

Teaching: 6/10 All explanations are “over the shoulder” teaching which really helped. The teaching of the video was a bit frustrating at first because it was a little rushed and not thoroughly slowed down much. You will have to rewind it again and watch it in detail. But the sleights are not that long and difficult.

Tricks:
Bamf: Don’t know what Bamf means but it’s a trick from Bizzaro. The trick is a clean and visual transposition of a card. Not really a new concept just different handling but it is very visual with a “stab in the gut” ending. It’s a LONG explanation and a bit funny, I think the explanation of this trick took almost half of the DVD.  8/10

Coins from the Grave: 2 visual productions with an audible and visual vanish. A quick and beautiful 2 coin production. This is a coin vanish I honestly have not seen before. It’s easy and I love to perform it anytime. 8/10

Spellbound for the Dead: Visual changes one after another with a “stab in the gut “ending. Too me, it’s kind of like Chris Kenner’s Hell bound spellbound routine in a different way. The sleights overall are pretty fun to do and one thing I really liked about it was that there was only “one” (I hope some magicians would get the hint, especially if they know how to do Hell bound Spellbound.) 7/10

Tombstone Change: A selected card is shuffled and buried into the deck. An indifferent card is shown and still holding the card with no funny moves, the card changes into the spectators chosen card. I really liked this card control, too me it’s kind of fun and invisible if done at the right situations. Plus, it fooled me as a magician. But the change itself is a bit difficult and angle sensitive. I think this change would be good for TV shows or table work. 5/10

Bonus/Extras:
• Backstory of how Todd Diamond really died from the last video…lol..
• Bloopers are really funny, like always 
• Interview with the Amazing Jonathan

Overall: In my opinion, I would say that this DVD would be great for the close up magician, strolling, or purist. These effects are not that difficult and they are all very visual. I also liked the storyline behind the video, its original and well produced. Sleights are not as difficult but like always they require practice. I liked the idea of incorporating other magicians in DVD’s especially with a one-on-one interview. This is a good DVD to get if you want to learn more sleights that you can build on and mix with your routine. I rate Magic from the Grave 7/10

Hi Zack,
Thank you for the review! Here is another review from someone else! Zack, just out of curiosity, why a five for the tombstone change? Is it because of difficulty? It is not an easy move, however I use it all the time and you are right it is a magician fooler!

Thanks again for the review!

Todd

P.S. Forgot to mention that spellbound from the grave is similar to Kenners Hellbound Spellbound, I asked Kenner in person after showing him my version if I could publish it. That is the reason in the credits he is credited! It is a simpler version of his spellbound!

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to share some news about some charity work that Diamond Magic Productions (Todd Diamond) and Fire Cat Studios (Bizzaro) are involved in. This is a very personal approach to helping those that are less fortunate then us. As you know I normally don’t send out mass mailings, however we have a goal of 500 dollars to send into NAMI. With your help we can accomplish this and since the magic world has given me so many great things in life I will match up to 100 dollars personally! So once we hit 100 dollars I will personally add another 100 dollars to the charity (roughly 6 DVDS That isn’t much and I know we can do it)! Here is the Add copy below about everything that has brought us to this point and got us involved in the charity.

In a strange twist of fate (and unusual showing of seriousness) Fire Cat Studios and Diamond Magic Productions reach out to victims of loss. On August 15th, Michael David Crew (brother-in-law to Todd Diamond) passed away. This was also the same day as the release of the Magic From the Grave DVD. To honor his passing and that of others who have come before and after him, the proceeds from the next 20 Magic From the Grave DVD’s sold, will go to charity ($17.75 after shipping costs). The purchases are tax deductable and go to a good cause ( you will be emailed the info once purchased). To learn more about the charity NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) go to http://www.nami.org/template.cfm?section=About_NAMI

We have sold the master of this DVD to a distributor, therefore the only way to get it right now is through us, however we are honoring the charity until further notice! This is our way of saying thank you to the magic community as well as giving to a good cause in a world that needs more support like this. With our version of the DVD you also get an insert with behind the scenes photos and a special link to other great deals on our products. This WILL NOT be a part of the packaging when it hits the market through the distributor, only through us!

To purchase the DVD, go to www.magicfromthegrave.com In appreciation and to wet your appetite below is a Link from the Amazing Johnathan interview on the DVD.

Thank you in advance for your support, this means a lot to my family!

Thanks Vynn. I just did a 40th birthday party and decided to do my cut and restored rope as a close up item. I have never had such a strong reaction to that trick in 30 years ... one of the guests kept following me around to watch the rope trick.
